Frequently Asked Questions

Do you accept Insurance?

Criddle Counseling Services does not accept insurance at this time. However, I am able to provide a National Provider ID number which will allow you to submit to your insurance for possible reimbursement.

How long are your sessions?

Initial therapy sessions with interviewing and assessment can take anywhere from 1 – 3 hours. I typically reserve 2 hours with some flexibility to adjust as needed.

Therapy sessions are usually 1 hour to 1.5 hours. I will typically meet with the client for 45 minutes – 75 minutes leaving 15 minutes to per session to summarize notes.

If a client is meeting with me only once a month, I require 1.5 hour per session.

My experience is that 1.5 hour sessions work much better for couple’s sessions and will be scheduled so unless the couple and I agree that one hour sessions are more appropriate.

What should I expect from a home-based session and how should I prepare?

Home-based sessions can be very comfortable for most clients. I have found that a lot of couples really enjoy sessions at home. I will arrive at your house and we will pick a neutral place in the house to meet. Typically the living room, den, or kitchen area. The session is performed just like a session that would in an office environment. I will leave 15 – 20 minutes at the end of session to make sure that any emotional escalations are de-escalated and will not leave the session until I am confident that everyone is in a good place and safe.

I like dogs and cats and do not mind pets being in the session; they can actually be therapeutic in the session. However, pets should be easily controlled and not distract from the session or require attention where they interrupt session. Please let me know in advance if you have any pets.

The environment should be quiet, cell phones should be silenced, and a time should be scheduled where minimal interruptions will take place. If children are present in the home and they are not a part of the session, it may be appropriate to arrange for a babysitter or an outing during the session.

I will typically not do home-based sessions if there is a history of assault, domestic violence, or active illicit drug use, or in an area that I deem unsafe for my well-being. I reserve my right to make that judgement and can cancel at the time of the appointment should it be deemed necessary.

What kind of payments do you receive..?

I will process payments via Square, Venmo, Bank of America and/or Chase QuickPay, or Cash. There is a nominal fee for processing via the Square or Venmo. Some clients prefer to pay for multiple sessions at one time, which can be arranged, but payment is typically due on the day of service prior to the session.
